HERE’S THE PROCESS

You Will Be Guided Through:

Step 1: Intro Call & Family History Review

We start with a 90-minute call where I get to know you, your goals, and you'll share any information you have with me. I'll also share what is / is not possible from the process so you have clear expectations of what's to come.

Step 2: Research & Analysis

My experienced team and I will begin to do our research. We look into census records, state archives, historical societies, and more, and thoroughly analyze everything to pull together a clear picture and story of your ancestor's lives. Because we're extremely thorough and careful to be accurate, the research phase takes around 5-7 weeks.

Step 3: Report Review

You'll receive a report via email that includes all the details of our findings. You'll have time to read and digest everything - and then we'll get on a call and I'll present our findings to you. You'll be presented copies of birth certificates, newspaper articles, etc. and share the stories we learned about your ancestors’ lives - who they were, where they lived, and experiences they had.

Step 4: Feel Connected to Your Past

By the end of this process, you'll have more information than you thought possible about your ancestors and family history. You'll have a story you can share that can be passed down to your kids, family, and beyond.

We go beyond online searches and do in-person searches into archives, records, and research repositories from a range of historical societies and libraries.

In-Depth Research

We’ll do a thorough investigation into your chosen family line. We analyze each record and cross-check all the stories held within them.

Updated Pedigree Chart

We’ll create an easy-to-understand family tree that reveals the path from you to your ancestors. At one glance, you’ll be able to see how your family line has grown and the new ancestors we’ve uncovered and rediscovered from the research process.

Detailed Research Summary

The summary won’t be a stale report of facts, instead you’ll be given a powerful story and timeline that brings your family's journey to life. You’ll be able to bring this easy-to-read summary to share with your family, at the holidays, or during your next family reunion. 

Digital Archive of Documents

Copies of key historical records discovered. This may include: birth certificates, newspaper clippings, obituaries, a picture of a headstone, and more.

Final Review Session

A virtual sit-down session where you’ll be guided through our findings. This is a compassionate space where you’ll be able to talk through any questions, or get clarity on any findings we’ve shared with you.

  • Any information you have is helpful, but it's not necessary. We can start with what you know and build from there.

  • Typically 10-12 weeks from the initial consultation to the final review session.

  • Many clients purchase multiple packages to build out their tree. We can discuss the best approach for your needs.

  • DNA testing is not required however DNA results can be helpful for some research depending on what you are trying to learn about your ancestors.
